Active Programs
Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP)
Canada's federal EV purchase incentive offers up to $5,000 off a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or up to $2,500 off a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) — applied at the dealership automatically. Note: EVAP covers the vehicle only, not the home charger.
- New BEV or PHEV purchase or lease on/after Feb 16, 2026
- Final transaction value at or under $50,000 (no cap for Canadian-made EVs)
- Vehicle must be built in Canada or a free-trade-agreement country
- One incentive per vehicle — applied directly at point of sale
The $5,000 BEV rebate is at its maximum in 2026 and will step down in 2027.
ChargeYYC — Multi-Residential EV Charging Pilot
ChargeYYC is a City of Calgary pilot that helps condos, apartments, townhouses and rowhouses get EV-ready. Phase 1 grants help buildings hire a qualified professional to prepare an EV Charging Road Map — the first step before chargers go in.
- Multi-residential building within the City of Calgary
- Application made by the condo board or property owner
- Limited number of approved applicants per phase

No Provincial Sales Tax in Alberta
There is currently no provincial rebate for home EV chargers in Alberta — but Alberta also has no PST. Your charger and installation carry only 5% GST, which keeps Calgary install costs among the lowest in Canada.

Canada Greener Homes Grant
The federal Greener Homes Grant closed to new applications in February 2024 and fully wound down December 31, 2025. It covered EV charger installation, insulation, windows, heat pumps, and more.

Common Questions
Is there an EV charger rebate in Calgary or Alberta?
Not for single-family homes, as of 2026. Alberta has no provincial home-charger rebate and ENMAX and FortisAlberta do not currently offer one. Be wary of any installer advertising a large "Alberta charger rebate".
Does the federal $5,000 EV rebate cover my charger?
No. The federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) is applied to the vehicle purchase or lease at the dealership. It does not cover charging equipment or installation.
I live in a condo. Is there help for me?
Yes. The City of Calgary ChargeYYC pilot supports condos, apartments, townhouses and rowhouses in becoming EV-ready, starting with grants for an EV Charging Road Map. We work with condo boards on load management (EVEMS) and phased installs.
How much does a Level 2 charger install cost in Calgary?
